NZCBC Council for Young People and The Catholic Network of Marriage Educators are excited to announce

24 – 26 April 2020

InterContinental Hotel, Wellington

The combined Takirua 2020 Conference will incorporate the best elements from each of two well-established national gatherings.

With Wellington scheduled to host conferences for both youth ministers and those involved in marriage ministries in 2020, organisers saw a unique opportunity to combine the two and offer participants a dynamic space in which to identify and address the challenges of ministry today.

Takirua 2020 will provide a platform to recognise – āhukahukatia, interpret – whakamāramamatia & choose – kōwhiritia, as we listen to, share with and learn form each other.

Mission

“Pastoral ministry in a missionary key seeks to abandon the complacent attitude that says: “We have always done it this way”. I invite everyone to be bold and creative in this task of rethinking the goals, structures, styles and methods of evangelization in their respective communities.”
– Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium 33

Vision

Takirua2020 will bring together a broad range of innovative ideas and practical tools to both equip and challenge those involved in contemporary Catholic pastoral ministry and marriage education in Aotearoa New Zealand. We will have bold conversations about the reality of mission today and we invite youth ministers, marriage educators and all interested catholic pastoral ministers (employed and voluntary) to join us.

Catholic Network of Marriage Educators

The Catholic Network of Marriage Educators (CNME) is a national organisation that represents the interests of the marriage educators of the six Catholic Dioceses of Aotearoa New Zealand. Working under mandate for the NZ Catholic Bishops Conference, CNME exists to strengthen and encourage marriage education through the coordination and provision of high quality educational programmes and services. The Takirua 2020 conference incorporates the two-yearly CNME Training Weekend for 2020.
